Background:
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School stands on a site that has been home to a Catholic school for 100 years. Newer rooms have been built for the juniors, including specialist teaching areas for technology and music. The hall has also been refurbished and there is a new library, technology room and dedicated ICT room with 17 PCs with broadband internet access. Outdoor facilties include a pirate activity ship, separate playgrounds for Key Stages 1 and 2, covered play area for Key Stage 1, two netball courts, quiet areas, benches, a pergola, and an all-weather pitch. Music, sport and drama are integral to school life. The school council enables the children to be part of the decision making process in the school. Extra-curricular clubs include netball, football, cricket, tennis, summer sports, cycling proficiency, the school newspaper, sports club for Key Stage 1, rounders and choir. The school aims to equip each child spiritually, morally, intellectually and physically so that they reach their full potential as people.
