Background:

The school is a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School that caters for children from four to11. It stands in a delightful rural setting overlooked by the Marlborough Downs. The White Horse carved from chalk at Alton Barnes is clearly visible from the school. The school is four miles from Pewsey, nine miles from Devizes and thirteen miles from Marlborough. The original school building was erected in 1873 and consisted of a staff room and two large classrooms that were converted into a school hall in 1994. The hall is used for Physical Education and dance, for drama, media studies, as a dining and assembly room. A double mobile classroom was added for the juniors at this time. The school in 2005 now comprises 5 permanent classrooms and a separate ICT area comprising 8 computers, linked to the internet. There is a partly covered and fenced play area between the infant classrooms, which is used for structured play activities. The classrooms overlook the playing fields and a hard playground. The school has a hall equipped with agility apparatus, a large school field and a hard surface playground. Sporting facilities includes football, netball, rounders, rugby, unihoc, basketball, short tennis, volleyball and athletics.
