Background:
The current school was built in 1956 as a replacement to the original 19th century building. Although it is a village school the majority of the pupils come from the area of the main road and 10 percent from outside the catchment area. The grounds contain a football and netball pitch as well as an area set aside for athletics. The school's football team is coached by a parent and competes in the Small Schools Association League. Within this association the school also participates in music and sporting activities, as well as the yearly residential trip for Year 6 pupils. The vicar of the local Church, with which the school has close links, leads weekly worship. There are also links with the local senior citizens' homes, local farms, secondary schools and colleges. The school communicates with schools in Australia via e-mail and also has placements for work experience students. The parent teacher association holds social and fundraising events and the school helps to support children's charities and Christian aid. The school aims to provide a happy and stable environment in which children may grow and develop to the best of their ability.
