Background:

The school was founded in 1872, but in 1992 moved to new buildings, on a pleasant site with both hard and grassed play areas. Winterbourne Earls School is committed to promoting race equality and to opposing all forms of racial prejudice and discrimination. It recognises that British society is made up of people from many different racial, cultural, linguistic and religious background, and that all pupils must be fully prepared to live in such a diverse society. At Winterbourne, children are introduced to variety of sports, through lesson time, and extra-curricular activities. These include netball and football. It has good facilities for gymnastics. In addition, movement and dance are taught. Athletics is encouraged through participation in training for events such as The Figsbury Challenge, Mini Marathon and area sports. The school provides a secure and happy environment for pupils to become responsible, caring members of their community.
