Background:
Watchfield Primary School is a primary and nursery school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is five to 11. The first school was closed in 1913, and the children of the village then attended a school in nearby Shrivenham. With the expansion of the facilities at the Royal Military College of Science (RMCS) in 1963, a new school was built in Watchfield. The school has excellent facilities with 10 bright, cheerful and well resourced modern classrooms, a suite of networked computers with internet and email connections, a language unit and an assembly hall. Sports facilities include outdoor hard surface play area, a large grass playing field, including sports pitches and play equipment. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, guitar and other outdoor pursuits.
