Background:

St Peter's Junior is housed in a Victorian building to the east of the centre of Marlborough. The building was previously occupied by Marlborough Grammar School. The classrooms are 'light and airy, attractive and well resourced' and the main hall is equipped as a gymnasium. The hall is used for assemblies, presentations, drama, music, clubs and meetings as well as physical education. There is a large library and a teachers' resource room. A technology room has been set up using money from the Parent-Teacher Association and a music room is available for individual and class lessons. The playground has been recently redeveloped to provide play equipment, quiet areas with seating and space for running around. There is a large playing field 10 minutes away from the school. Clubs are held at lunchtime and after school and are run by parents and teachers. These include football, netball, rugby, ocarina, guitar, recorder, gym country dancing and a Christian club. The children are encouraged to think of those who are less fortunate than themselves and since Eglantyne Jebb, founder of Save the Children taught at St Peter's in 1899, it has been adopted as the school charity.
